State Rep. Ann Bollin today testified before the House Health Policy Committee in support of her plan to make telehealth services more accessible to people in Michigan.

Bollin, of Brighton Township, said the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of residents being able to access safe and reliable health care by connecting with providers virtually or over the phone.

“Telemedicine services have proven to be invaluable during this pandemic,” Bollin said. “Being able to connect with a doctor virtually allows you to have your health concerns addressed without having to sit in a crowded waiting room with others who may be sick. It also means visits take less time out of your day, and you can see a specialist without having to drive to another area of the state.”

Bollin’s measure, House Bill 4355, would ensure out-of-state physicians can provide telemedicine services to people in Michigan without overly burdensome licensure requirements.

“This simple change will give Michiganders access to specialists from across the country, including the best experts in their fields,” Bollin said.

House Bill 4355 remains under consideration by the Health Policy Committee.
