State Rep. Mike Mueller today celebrated the completion of renovations at Price’s Airport (9G2) by participating in a ceremonial first flight to showcase the improved runway.
Mueller, R-Linden, said improvements mark an important investment in the Linden community and its aviation infrastructure. The airport provides a convenient way for business owners and visitors to travel to and from the area, supporting economic growth and making it easier for nearby businesses to thrive.
“Price’s Airport is a key part of our community, and the upgrades ensure it will continue serving the public for years to come,” Mueller said. “Whether it’s serving nearby businesses and residents, supporting charitable groups like Wings of Mercy, or being a lifeline in emergencies, this airport is an important resource for Linden and the surrounding areas.”
Mueller worked with the state last year to secure funding to repair small airports across Michigan, including Price’s Airport. The improvements include a repaved runway and safety upgrades to keep the airport operating efficiently. The renovations were funded through a grant facilitated by the Michigan Department of Transportation’s aeronautics division.
While the airport is now under private ownership, it operates as a public use airport with ongoing support from the Horizon Lakes Airpark community. The airport also serves as a base for Wings of Mercy, a group of volunteer pilots who provide free flights for patients in need of medical care at distant hospitals.
“Small airports like Price’s are often overlooked, but they play a crucial role in connecting our communities, especially during emergencies when other infrastructure fails,” Mueller said. “Having an upgraded, convenient facility will make it easier for first responders and volunteers to step up when there’s a need.”
