State Rep. Doug Wozniak today released the following statement ahead of the governor’s State of the State address:

“When House Republicans took back the majority, we committed to keeping state government focused on practical priorities that make a real difference in people’s daily lives.

“Last year, we delivered an additional $2 billion annually in long-term road funding to finally fix our local and county roads, secured record funding for our local schools, eliminated the state income tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security, and cut hundreds of millions of dollars in wasteful spending from the state budget. And we’re just getting started.

“I hope the governor will take a cue from House Republicans and focus her address on what matters most to Michigan families: affordability. That’s what we’ll be focused on this year, making life more affordable by lowering energy bills, bringing down housing costs, delivering broad property tax relief for all Michigan residents, and making health care more affordable.

“I’m ready to work with anyone who is serious about lowering costs and delivering real results for Michigan families.”
